The time will come, after you’ve been wandering forever under foreboding dark skies, after you think you’ve been wandering in vain and in pain with no purpose, after you begin to wonder whether your wandering will ever end … you will see a light. And that tiny burst of light will bring you hope again.
Even later, a time will come when you realize it wasn’t you alone who did it. You’ll realize, as a Gospel spiritual says, “Somebody prayed for me.” It might even have been someone you don’t know.
That realization should bring you more hope to carry on, and it should bring you a greater resolve to pray for someone else, who is wandering the same way you did. So “pray it forward” for someone. Even go so far as to pray for someone you don’t know.

Somebody prayed for me,
I was lost and alone in a cold dark world.
No peace of mind, no freedom could I see,
But little did I know I had a friend somewhere,
Someone I didn’t know saw some good in me.
Somebody prayed for me,
They had me on their mind,
They sacrificed their time,
They fell down on their knees and prayed for me.
They had no doubt
That God would bring me out,
That he could change my life and set me free.
