“The most perfect love is that between a mother and child. It is unending.”
— Anonymous

Chrissy turned to her mother for everything… when she was a girl, when she was a teenager — although she didn’t always listen to her mother — and when she got married, because her marriage was hardly made in Heaven.

A mother's loveHer relationship with her husband was a troubled one because of his drinking. To add to the misery, her son started binge drinking with his friends in college and got into trouble. Chrissy wanted to wave a magic wand and make it all go away. Worst of all, she no longer had her mother to console her and say, “Everything’s going to be all right.” Even if everything wasn’t going to be all right, she needed her mother to tell her it would be. She couldn’t call her on the phone, she couldn’t ask her for advice, and she couldn’t receive her compassion.

When Chrissy was a girl, her mother would hug her and console her. But after she died, Chrissy felt adrift in a lonely and loveless world. She couldn’t face life. She suffered from panic attacks and insomnia. She wanted her mother back. She wanted her there to help her navigate the crises that life was throwing at her.

“What am I going to do?” she wondered … until someone told her what should have been obvious. She still had her mother. Her mother was looking over her. And her mother was praying for her.

That thought brought her consolation and carried her through the dark times. It wasn’t easy, but it gave her some relief. The grief in her heart was still a large emptiness, but she felt a glimmer of hope to think her mother would never leave her even though they were separated.

Never forget — a mother’s love lasts forever.
