“O Come, All Ye Faithful"“O Come, All Ye Faithful,” which is also known as “Adeste Fideles,” is one of the most popular Christmas carols. Centuries old, it has been attributed to different authors, from Cistercian monks to John Francis Wade (1711–1786) and King John IV of Portugal (1604–1656).

The first known printed version of the song was found in a book by Wade, published in 1751, which is in the library of Stonyhurst College in Lancashire, England.

The hymn was translated into English by Fr. Frederick Oakeley, an English priest, and over the centuries, the four verses were expanded to eight, which have been translated into many languages.

Oh, come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
Oh, come ye, oh, come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;
Refrain:
Oh, come, let us adore Him, oh, come, let us adore Him,
Oh, come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.
Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;
Oh, sing, all ye citizens of heav’n above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest;
Refrain
Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to Thee be all glory giv’n;
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing;
Refrain
