Thank You, My Neighbor

Thank you, my trusted friend, welcome listener, partner, too,
For the oh-so-many thoughtful things that you selflessly do.
You’re been there when I’ve called you, responding to my need.
Your eagerness to help extends from thought, to word, to deed.

I know that I can count on you, without hesitation,
That’s why I call at times when I experience desperation.
The door is always open to your house and your heart, too.
Your life has shown me that you care in all you say and do.

It’s hard sometimes, in times of trial, to know just where to turn,
But you’ve assured me of your love, and helped me, too, to learn,
That we all walk the road together, through this earthly life,
And God above has not decreed a journey without strife.

But what He said is that He’ll walk beside us, hand in hand,
And show each step along the way through a sometimes weary land,
And provide the strength to travel on, from one peak to the next,
If we but walk His chosen path, He’ll show us what is best.

Please let me take this chance now, to express my thanks to you,
For being His hands to assist in any task I may have to do,
For being His voice to comfort through a trial I need to share,
For being His feet to come alongside and help shoulder the burdens I bear.
