— Jeremiah 29:13
For Sue, the loss of her 22-year-old son Ben on July 29, 2006, started her on a spiritual journey that led closer and closer to God. She became more open to who God is and moved beyond the preconceptions we all often cling to.
“I have been communicating with God a long time, and I recognize his presence, and I know he has been with me in this painful space that I have been traveling through,” she says. “This is the ongoing connection that happens through tragedy because He wants you to cooperate in the healing.”
And God’s invitation to cooperating with him in the healing is extended to everyone.
“If you have the courage to say ‘yes,’ God continues to give you more reassurance. My son Ben is reaching out and saying it’s all good here. Don’t worry about me. When you receive it and get it it’s ‘Wow, God.’ It’s the abundance God promises. It’s God’s work of abundance. And it’s bigger and better than I could possibly imagine. The most painful spot he is healing with the joyful presence of my younger son….I cry on Thanksgiving because I am overwhelmed with gratitude because I know how close my son is to me.”
