The following reflection was written by a reader of the Healing Journey.

“I will be handling all your problems today”

By George Sheehy

I have a saying on the wall beside the door we go in and out of every day. It says, “Good morning! This is God. I will be handling all your problems today. I will not need your help. So, relax and have a great day.”

Good Morning This Is GodI have to admit that even though I see the assurance from God that he will take care of our wants, needs and problems of life today, I am positive that he has all my life. There were many, many times when situations could have resulted in very serious consequences and even possibly death for both me and Del.

And I can’t help but think that as a young boy who was heading the wrong way in life, he looked upon me with pity and sent me the help and guidance I needed. I can almost hear the words, “Okay, Dopey, I see that you need some help so take my hand, and I am sending you someone to guide you.”

Indeed, he did because if it wasn’t for Del, I don’t know where I would have been if I never met her. I have truly been blessed with much more than I deserve. So I understand what it means when I see the words, “Good morning, this is God. I will be handling all your problems today, I will not need your help, so relax and have a great day.”

However, I’m not complacent or arrogant enough to think that I can do whatever I want, and it will be all right. I must live as pleasing to God to the best of my ability and try to overcome the sins and temptations that are a constant presence in everyday living. So while it is a struggle to stay on the road to our promised reward, I hear, “Follow me and I will take care of you.” And those words are true.
