The following reflection was written by Cynthia in honor of her father.
“My father was a baker. He brought home sweets every day. We were supposed to save room for dessert actually. In our family, it was unique during Dad’s vacation time to actually have Wonder Bread, Twinkies, and Archway cookies (which I still love).

By the time Christmas came, there were bags of cookies in every closet. Oh my! His bakery also made their own fresh dark chocolate bunnies for Easter. We each had two baskets —one for the Loft’s Milk Chocolate bunny and one for the smaller dark chocolate one. We had no restrictions on eating sweets either. It was one of the finer things in life, it seems. Speaking of Halloween, on Long Island, we trick or treated all hours of the day and night, and I had a bag of candy that lasted into the New Year.
Needless to say, when I reached full growth around 15, I started putting on weight and started dieting at 16! Been having to watch my weight ever since. When I moved away from my father’s bakery goods, I lost quite a few pounds too. Wow! But now there is Entenmann’s, which is the only thing that comes close to my father’s baked goods, which I’ll never forget.”
